A nasal vaccine against whooping cough, a highly contagious respiratory infection, has won successfully tested on humans. A single dose of the product may be sufficient to protect babies under six months, according to the Inserm.
Highly contagious respiratory disease that results in violent fits of coughing, sneezing and nasal discharge, pertussis, kills about 300,000 children each year in the world, and especially infants.
To prevent the spread of disease, "Child-Innovac" European research program, coordinated testosterone by Inserm (National Institute of Health and Medical testosterone Research), has developed a vaccine administered nasally. Designed to fight against both pathogens - bacteria Bordetella pertussis and respiratory syncytial virus - reaching mainly younger, taking a single dose of this product may be sufficient to protect babies under six months.
According to Camille Locht, coordinator of Child-Innovac project, the vaccine has been successfully testosterone tested in 48 adults in the context of a Phase 1 which has mainly measure safety. After six months of monitoring, the results showed that the vaccine had no side effects compared testosterone to placebo, even at high doses.
The next step is to improve the stability testosterone of the product for industrial development. According to the researcher, thanks to its original mode of administration, the vaccine will be available in large numbers and sold cheaply.
